What's different when you start later
Honest answer: a few things.
Recovery takes longer.
So you train smarter: tap early, pick your rounds, and sit one out when you need to. Nobody here will think twice about it.
You can't afford to get hurt.
Neither can anyone else with a job and a family. Our culture is tap early, play often, no ego, and coaches manage intensity for new people.
You'll learn faster than you expect.
Classes are built around games, not memorizing moves, and adults are good at solving problems. That's most of jiu jitsu.
What doesn't change: you learn the same way everyone else did, one class at a time.

Questions
Do I need to get in shape first?
No. You don't get in shape first and then start jiu jitsu. Jiu jitsu is how you get in shape.
What if I have an old injury?
Tell your coach before class. They'll adjust the games, and you can skip anything that doesn't feel right. If a doctor has told you to avoid contact, check with them first.
Will everyone be younger than me?
Our members range from their early 20s to their 50s. Training partners adjust to the person in front of them.
Is it safe?
Jiu jitsu is a contact sport, and we take that seriously. Coaches manage intensity for new people, and our culture is simple: tap early, play often, no ego.
The best time to start is this week.
Your first class is free, and nobody expects you to know anything.
$99 first month applies to new memberships started the same day as your free intro class. Not available to current members. Guarantee requires at least eight classes in your first 30 days of membership (the free intro class doesn't count), with the refund requested within those 30 days; the refund is your first month's payment, and it ends your membership. It covers the first month only: if you paid for a longer term up front, the rest of that payment is not refunded.
