How we train
If you've trained at a technique-of-the-day gym, this will feel different. Games are the method; solid fundamentals are the result.
Concepts first.
You learn why a position works, so it transfers. Not a list of moves to memorize.
Both sides of every position.
Attack and escape are taught together, so you're never only good from one side.
Games with real resistance.
Every game has a starting position, a goal, and rules that force the skill. You get live reps against real resistance all class, not a few demos.
Coaching grounded in research.
Our coaches study how people actually learn movement: Rob Gray, Nick Winkelman, Doug Lemov, and Keith Davids. We call it American Jiu Jitsu.

No ego. Plenty of good rounds.
Tap early, play often, no ego. Training partners match intensity to the person in front of them, and nobody is trying to prove anything on you. You'll still get hard rounds when you want them.
Visiting or cross-training? Come to open mat.
Open mat is free for anyone with six months of training. Friday 5:30 PM no-gi, Saturday 10:00 AM gi.

Questions
Do I have to start in the beginner class?
No. Intermediate is for people with about a year of training or more: tell the form you've been training a while and you can book it. Fundamentals is all live games too, and some experienced people like it for rebuilding their basics.
Gi or no-gi?
Both. Intermediate alternates (no-gi Monday and Wednesday, gi Tuesday and Thursday), and the two open mats are one of each.
Do you actually roll?
Yes. Intermediate classes are a deep dive on one topic, then live training, and open mat is two sessions a week.
What happens after the free class?
Join the same day and your first month is $99, with the Day 30 Guarantee: come to eight classes in your first 30 days, and if it's not for you, we refund your first month.

Your first class is free.
$99 first month applies to new memberships started the same day as your free intro class. Not available to current members. Guarantee requires at least eight classes in your first 30 days of membership (the free intro class doesn't count), with the refund requested within those 30 days; the refund is your first month's payment, and it ends your membership. It covers the first month only: if you paid for a longer term up front, the rest of that payment is not refunded.
